Manuscript Submission Guidelines When you submit a book manuscript to a publisher or to an editor, it's important to look like a "pro." That means understanding and following a predetermined, conventional format for manuscripts. This is not the time to try to "stand out from the crowd" with zany type faces, double columns, bolded type, or any other departure from the norm. You want the publisher to consider your story; anything that distracts from that defeats your purpose. The time for original presentation is AFTER your book has been accepted. Then you can make your original suggestions to the book designer. But while you're still trying to catch a publisher's attention, give 'em plain vanilla. Here's a sample opening page. Follow this format and you'll come in looking good.
